Marketiva Review

I have been with Marketiva more than a year now (May '08). Initially, there were some problems but then what platform doesn't have problems? I know for a fact that getting a downright perfect platform is just close to impossible so I think the problems are fairly tolerable but for one or two major issues.

Basically, sometime in June 08, the Marketiva platform was encountering severe problems. There was no prior warning, no emails and repeated attempts to contact their support was unsuccessful. The platform was downright unaccessible most of the times and indeed it was worrying. I do not know for how long this problem persisted but I am glad that it is rectified now. Marketiva should be applauded for resolving this issue at least because I know many platforms disregard this problem of the server crashing or disconnecting and instead blame it on people like us.

I had quite a bad personal experience with Minerva through one of my trades. After registering a $5000 profit or so, I was actually told that the price feed was wrong and that they had the every right to reverse that trade. This was indeed a shocker to me because I have never quite experienced something like that. I mean, can you actually imagine registering a profit of $5000 and then having the trade reversed because the price feed was seemingly wrong and then registering a loss instead? Not quite unhappy with it, I tried to resolve the matter on my own.

I had begun to ask other traders if they had experienced a similar situation. From what I gathered, the reverse of trades was not uniform. This almost only happened with those that made huge profits. Those that did not make these profits were left alone. Not happy wih what I found out, I tried to contact the support but they did not resolve my problem. Instead, they stood by their decision and said that it is liable to happen again because it was a 'uniform' policy.

I believe that is my one and only major concern where Marketiva is involved. I must say that their depostis and withdrawals system is quite efficient and fast and I have had no problems in getting my money.

I will give them a 2 star because of their 'reverse trade' policy which I have never seen anywhere else with any other platforms. It is quite worrying but somhow, I am giving them a benefit of a doubt and will stick with them for a little while more.
